Itinerary

  1. Amr Ibn-Al-As Mosque
    Start your private day tour by visiting the famous Amr Ibn-Al-As Mosque in Old Cairo. Originally built in 642 AD, it is the first mosque ever built in Egypt and the first in Africa. It was established as the center of the newly founded capital of Egypt, Fustat.

  2. Ibn Tulun Mosque
    Next, head to the Ibn Tulun Mosque, commissioned by Ahmad ibn Tulun, the Abbasid governor of Egypt from 868-884. This mosque was completed in 879 AD and is known for its unique architecture and historical importance.

  3. Mosque-Madrassa of Sultan Hassan
    Visit the Mosque-Madrassa of Sultan Hassan, a massive mosque built during the Mamluk era near the Citadel of Cairo. Construction began in 1356 and was completed in three years. It is famous for its large size and innovative architectural elements, as well as its inclusion of schools for all four Sunni schools of thought.

  4. Old Cairo Complex
    Proceed to the Old Cairo Complex, where you can visit the following religious landmarks:

    • The Roman Fortress and Hanging Church: This ancient church is built into the walls of a Roman fortress and is possibly the oldest Christian church in Egypt.
    • Monastery and Church of St. George: Dating back to 1909, this church has a history going back to the 10th century and is one of the few remaining circular churches in the Middle East.
    • Abu Serga Church: One of the places where the Holy Family rested during their flight from King Herod, featuring beautiful marble columns and 12th-century icons.
    • Ben Ezra Synagogue: One of the oldest synagogues in Egypt, built on the site of a 4th-century Christian church and recently renovated.
  5. Coptic Museum
    End your tour with a visit to the fascinating Coptic Museum, located within the historical precinct of the Babylon Fort. The museum houses over 16,000 objects of great historical significance to the Copts of Egypt.
